The systems that govern our coasts such as infrastructure, finance, regulation, science were built to manage the ocean health as a cost. Ocean Hex is being built to make ocean health an outcome those same systems can deliver, scale, and value as an investment.
Currently our focus is on Grey-to-Green coastal infrastructure. This is where the demand is real, the data is buildable, and the system earns its first hard tests.

Coastal infrastructure supports our livelihood, but they could support so much more
The issue is not development.
The issue is that asset maintenance and ocean health is treated with separate solutions.
Marine infrastructure, piles, wharfs, and coastal defences, faces constant pressure from the marine environment. Corrosion, fouling, and wave loading are ongoing, and managing them requires a continuous cycle of inspection, maintenance, and replacement.
This cycle is necessary: these are critical, regulated assets, and every inspection or repair carries a cost beyond the work itself: the downtime it imposes on the port while the job is completed.
Until now, there hasn’t been a way to support marine life on these structures without adding to that downtime risk, so protecting the asset and supporting the ecosystem have stayed two separate goals.
